Thanks, that’s an interesting and complicated question to answer.

If we are talking on the basis of models I have worked with:

Do I have a favorite model? I am sure I do, but I would hesitate to say it publicly, for a number of reasons…

First, it would be really hard to say one model is a favorite over all others. Each model is different, each one offers different qualities and abilities, different looks, different personalities. Judging one over another is completely subjective and probably goes beyond the superficial criteria, such as looks, and has more to do with how I interact with them on a personal level.

Second, I wouldn’t want to offend other models I have worked with. During a shoot, you sometimes say silly things, like ‘you’re the best’, ‘you’re amazing’, or ‘that was the best shoot I ever had’. Sometimes you say these things in a moment of excitement, but they can last a long time in the mind of the model. I am sure I have told many models such things, so declaring one as a favorite over all others might cause me some headaches.

Third, to be honest, I wouldn’t be comfortable in declaring one model as my favorite unless I knew she felt the same about me as a photographer. The model/photographer relationship is all about collaboration, rapport, trust, etc. If I were to have one favorite, she would obviously also be my muse and she would consider me her favorite photographer as well. I am not aware of any model who has said that I am their favorite photographer, probably because it might offend the photographers that model has worked with. 

Who knows? There are one or two models I could consider as my favorite, perhaps someday I will feel comfortable saying one is my favorite.

Of course, if we are talking about models in general:

Farah Fawcett was always my favorite.
